RESEARCH PROJECT

Please answer the questions below. Your answers should be in paragraphs where appropriate, and should contain supporting evidence from your sources.

TIMELINE

Create a timeline for World War 2. Begin in November 1918 and conclude in 1947. Include all of the relevant events which took place in that period.

DEFINITIONS

Find definitions for the following...

Blitzkrieg

Treaty of Versailles

Weimar Republic

Munich Crisis

Pearl Harbour

U.S. Isolationism

Appeasement

Imperialism

Lebensraum

Final Solution

Kristalnacht

HUMAN COST

Establish how many people lost their lives or were permanently incapacitated during World War 2. Once you have done this, create a graph to illustrate your findings. This can be a pie or bar graph; you may create it on the computers.

GEOGRAPHY

On a world map, show the extent of the fighting in World War 2. Use different colours to represent countries that were part of the "Axis Powers" and the "Allied Powers".

Then on a second map choose one major campaign of World War 2 and illustrate it.

LEADERS

Choose two leaders, one figure from among the Axis Powers, and one from the Allied Powers. Write a page biography of each. Include details such as date of birth, nationality, education and career details. Include a picture of each. This does not count as part of your one page biography.

WEAPONS AND TECHNOLOGY

Choose one example of military technology. It could be an aircraft, ship, gun, tank or some of the more esoteric items such as Mulberry Harbours or inflatable decoys. Produce a poster, model or web page including such things as the design of your piece of technology, its uses and success or failure.

STRATEGY AND TACTICS

Choose one battle from the following list.

Battle of Britain

Siege of Stalingrad

D-Day

Battle of the Atlantic

Battle for the Ardennes

North African Campaign

Then using maps and text trace the progress and outcome of this battle. Discuss the tactics, battlefield, casualties and so on. Discuss its impact on the progress of the war.
